A Mother Stood Weeping was originally composed in 2005 for Immaculata Catholic School choir for use at their "Way of the Cross" ceremony during Holy Week in Durham NC. It is arranged for piano, violin, flute, cello and 4 part female choir (parts available from Lorna Collingridge email: lcollingridge@gmail.com). However, it can also be used just as the simple song with piano accompaniment. It ends with the first phrase of the traditional sequence Stabat Mater, probably composed in the 13th century. A Mother Stood Weeping could be used in Holy Week, or for a woman's ceremony. It could also be used in the traditional Memorial to Our Lady of Sorrows, or for Marian feasts.
